Fes Marriott Hotel Jnan Palace
Morocco's first Marriott-branded hotel: 244 rooms around gardens and an outdoor pool in the Fes Ville Nouvelle

About this stay
The Jnan Palace is a resort-style city hotel, not a riad: a large building in landscaped grounds in the Ville Nouvelle, the French-era new town of Fes, with balconied rooms facing the gardens or the outdoor pool. It became Marriott's first branded hotel in Morocco around the turn of 2017, and a renovation finished by September 2025 added a redesigned lobby, a shopping gallery, an Andalusian patio inspired by riads and two new venues, Pachamama for Spanish food and the Croon Lounge for tapas and cocktails, alongside the Moroccan Jnan L'Fassi and the pool bar.
It is also a conference and wedding venue, with a convention centre for up to 1,300 guests, so expect to share it with groups. The wellness area has a women-only sauna and steam room staffed by women, a men-only one, and a hammam with a massage room booked privately at set hours. Atlas Garden and the Borj Fez mall are under five minutes by car, Bab Boujloud about ten, Royal Golf de Fès about twenty, and Fès-Saïss airport roughly 23.

Our take
Fes Marriott Hotel Jnan Palace was the first hotel to carry the Marriott name in Morocco when it reopened under the brand around the turn of 2017, and its 244 rooms sit in landscaped grounds on Avenue Ahmed Chaouki in the Ville Nouvelle, not in the medina. It gives you what a riad in Fès el-Bali cannot: an outdoor pool with a pool bar, balconies over the garden or the pool, and a hammam. The medina gate of Bab Boujloud is about ten minutes away by taxi. A renovation finished by September 2025 redid the lobby and added an Andalusian patio inspired by riad courtyards. I would book it for families and for travellers who want space and a pool between guided medina mornings; couples who came to Fes for riad life should sleep inside the walls instead.
- Choose between the garden-view and pool-view Deluxe rooms when you book: both have a balcony, and the category decides what you look out on, so pick it rather than leaving it to check-in.
- Take a petit taxi to Bab Boujloud, about ten minutes away, and walk down the Talaa Kebira from there: it is the simplest way into Fès el-Bali, and a licensed guide saves hours in its lanes.
- The hammam and massage room can be booked privately, but only at set hours and with advance reservation: book it the day before your tanneries and souks day.
- Women can use a women-only sauna and steam room staffed by women, and men have their own; both are separate from the pool, which is mixed.
- Fès-Saïss airport is about 13 km away, roughly 23 minutes by road, which makes this an easy first or last night of a Moroccan circuit that starts or ends in Fes.
- Royal Golf de Fès is about 20 minutes away by car: close enough for an early round before the heat, with the medina saved for the afternoon.
Why we love it
- The outdoor pool and pool bar after a morning in the medina
- Balconies over the gardens or the pool
- A private hammam session booked for the evening
- Bab Boujloud only ten minutes away by petit taxi
Why guests love itFamilies pick the Jnan Palace over a medina riad for one reason: an outdoor pool with room around it, in gardens where children can run, instead of a decorative patio basin and steep stairs. The pool is mixed and modest swimwear is accepted, which suits families who prefer to cover up. Rooms have balconies, and the wide pavements of the Ville Nouvelle are easier with a pushchair than the lanes of Fès el-Bali. No kids' club is advertised, so the days are yours to plan. The drawback is distance: every visit to the tanneries or the Bou Inania madrasa begins with a taxi of about ten minutes. Know too that Morocco World News reported in September 2025 a slide at the hotel: tired rooms in need of maintenance, uneven housekeeping and restaurants that have not kept pace, despite the new lobby. I would recommend it to families with young children who see the medina in half-day trips; teenagers keen on the souks in the evening will find the back and forth frustrating.
