Our take

At 63 Avenue Moulay Youssef, NJ Hotel Rabat puts you about four minutes on foot from the Mohammed V - Gare de Rabat tram stop, which faces Rabat-Ville station. That address is its real strength: classic ONCF trains, the tram and the Parliament district are all walkable, and the Mohammed VI Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art is within roughly ten minutes. I would book it for a city stay built around museums, the Kasbah of the Udayas and train day trips. It is not a resort: there is no pool, and the garden and terrace are for an evening drink by the outdoor fireplace rather than for a whole afternoon. A score of 8.4 out of 10 across 999 reviews is a large, steady sample.

  • Arriving on Al Boraq, you get off at Rabat-Agdal, not Rabat-Ville; the tram does not serve Agdal station, so a petit taxi is the simplest link to the hotel.
  • The Bab Rouah tram stop, about five minutes away, is named after the monumental gate in the city walls next to it, worth a look before you ride towards the centre.
  • Ask for an interconnected room when booking if you travel with children: the hotel offers them alongside family rooms, but they are a limited category.
  • Parking is free but off site, so tell the reception your arrival time if you come by car and need directions to it.

Why we love it

  • Comfortable, air-conditioned and soundproofed rooms
  • Family-friendly restaurant with diverse cuisine
  • Relaxing garden and terrace with an outdoor fireplace
  • Convenient fitness centre for active guests
Why guests love it

Families get two useful room options here: family rooms, and interconnected rooms that let parents and children sleep side by side with their own doors. Rooms are air-conditioned and soundproofed, which matters on a central avenue. The restaurant serves French and Moroccan dishes, an easy compromise when children want something familiar after a day of sightseeing. There is a garden, a terrace with an outdoor fireplace for cooler evenings, and a fitness centre, but no pool, so in July and August I would plan afternoon outings rather than expect to cool off at the hotel. The location near Rabat-Ville station makes a day trip to Casablanca or Kenitra simple without changing hotel.
