Our take
The Majestic stands at 121 Avenue Hassan II, next to Bab El Had, the gate where Rabat's medina wall meets the modern centre, and its whole appeal is that address. The Medina tram stop is about two minutes away on foot, Rabat Ville station roughly ten, and the souks of the old town start on the other side of the wall. Rooms are air-conditioned, some have a balcony over the city, and breakfast mixes continental dishes with Moroccan specialities and fresh pastries. There is no pool and no restaurant beyond breakfast, so evenings happen in the medina or along Avenue Mohammed V. Guests rate it 8.5 out of 10 across 112 reviews. I would choose it for two or three nights of sightseeing on foot, not for a resort stay.
- Arriving on Al Boraq? The high-speed train stops only at Rabat-Agdal, not Rabat Ville, and the tram does not reach that station, so take a petit taxi to Bab El Had with your bags.
- Coming from Casablanca or Fès on a regular ONCF train, get off at Rabat Ville instead: the walk down to Avenue Hassan II takes about ten minutes.
- Use the Medina tram stop a couple of minutes from the door to cross the river to Salé, rather than negotiating a taxi in the evening traffic of Bab El Had.
- Ask for a balcony room on the city side if you like light; if you sleep lightly, a room away from the avenue is the safer request at a junction this busy.
Why we love it
- Comfortable, air-conditioned family rooms
- 24-hour front desk and concierge service
- Diverse breakfast with local specialities
- Convenient central location in Rabat
Why guests love itFor a family visiting Rabat on foot, the Majestic's strength is distance rather than facilities. Family rooms are available, every room is air-conditioned, and the medina, the tram and Rabat Ville station are all within a few minutes' walk of Bab El Had, which spares children long taxi rides. Breakfast is served with Moroccan specialities, fresh pastries and halal options, a gentle start before a day at the Kasbah of the Udayas or the Hassan Tower. The limits are clear: no pool, no play area and no restaurant at dinner time, so parents need a plan for the afternoon heat and for evening meals. A daily housekeeping service and a 24-hour front desk help with late arrivals. I would book it for a short city break with school-age children, not for a beach or pool holiday.
